Our first official walk of the Summer, and we decided that we had to do something a bit different – one day, and the three highest peaks in each of the parishes of Gaeltacht Mhúscraí! Such an undertaking needs a collection for a worthy charity to along with it, and there’s few as worthy as the Jack & Jill Foundation, which provides in-home nursing care and respite support for children up to five years old.

First peak of the day – we start on Mullach an Ois, the highest peak in the parish of Baile Bhuirne, at 649 metres.
Lunch at Cill na Martra
Our second height of the day is in the parish of Cill na Martra, where its highest point is close to the village itself. This is also the ideal place to sit, have some lunch, and wonder what have we gotten ourselves into!
Maoileann
Our final hill of the day – Maoileann in the parish of Béal Átha an Ghaorthaidh. At 587m, it’s the highest peak in the Gaeltacht are of Béal Átha, and are we going to be happy to see the trig point at the top!
